Wisdom for Life: Living Well Under the Fear of the Lord

The book of Proverbs teaches that wisdom is not merely something we know but something we live. It addresses the ordinary spaces of life, home, work, relationships, speech, parenting, emotions, and calls God’s people to walk skillfully before Him in each of them.

This course brings together key topical themes from Proverbs to show how the fear of the Lord orders the whole of life. Students will examine God’s wisdom as it speaks to the value of a godly woman, the shaping influence of children, the contrast between diligence and laziness, anger and meekness, and worldly gain and lasting treasure. Along the way, we will consider God’s sovereign rule over all things and how reverent trust in Him steadies the heart amid uncertainty.

Rather than treating Proverbs as disconnected sayings, this course presents wisdom as a coherent way of life, one that forms the heart, disciplines the tongue, governs our work, and directs the home. Students will be encouraged to see that wisdom is better than the world’s promises, that the Lord is firmly in control, and that fearing Him is the beginning and foundation of truly living well.

This course aims to cultivate thoughtful, humble, God-fearing Christians who seek not merely to avoid folly but to walk faithfully in the wisdom that leads to life.
